about mindBody

The mind and the body. Such an exquisite duo masterpiece of self-orchestrated systems. Each system comprised of their own complex subsystems continuing down to cells, molecules and yet deeper still into the atomic, all comprising one giant composite that literally consumes its environment for fuel and information. All with a seemingly infinite number of interconnecting electrical and chemical feedback loops, connections and inputs, responses and data points.

A self-sustaining machine able to manipulate and negotiate its environment not only to survive but thrive.

but wait, there’s more

We aren’t a duo after all. We’re a trio. We aren’t just us, we’re also them. In fact, we’re more them than us. “Them” are the bacteria of our microbiome. They too are massively complex in their own right. And are a necessary and crucial component in our ability to live. The microbiome combined with our mind and body is the machine of us, all components of the universe, literally the stuff of stars. These trillions upon trillions of components arranged in a certain mutually coordinated self-sustaining dance spontaneously produces a new emergent entity, consciousness.

consciousness

We are this, this Consciousness. That thing we call self and soul. Often thought of as the Experiencer. This self-aware thing, this “us”, the “I” is the universe itself, slowly becoming aware.

mindBody will ponder and celebrate the mechanisms, physiology, psychologies and philosophies underlying these mind-blowing subjects and concepts. We will delve into the gut-mind connection, theories on consciousness, downloading the human mind, gene expression, the theories of brain-body systems of exercise variance for health…

…how our diet is not just calories, but medicine and information used by the outrageously complex and synergistic components of the machine that is us, the who and what we are…

…or at least, who and what we think we are.
