“The Earth does not belong to us: we belong to the Earth. – Marlee Matlin
earthKind
earthKind, like the title of this website audacityDaily, is a double entendre. Like humankind is all races and types of humans, earthkind is all living things on earth. Earthkind also means the spirit and action of being kind and respectful to Mother Earth and all of her kind.
our place
Earth is our home, our spaceship, it’s where we live. We are made up of her own flesh. Ever since a bunch o’ billion years after the big bang when Earth coalesced into a solid body, the Milky Way Galaxy and all of it’s pieces have been hurtling along through the universe at about 1.3 million MPH toward The Great Attractor.
Over yet more time a bit of magic shit slowly happened and life began to emerge. Finally we’re able to look up and realize we’re sitting on a planet that is teaming with life in a beautifully choreographed natural dance.
bittersweet intelligence
Then intelligence happened. This has allowed us to develop technologies with catastrophic potentials. Science has shown there have been a half dozen mass extinction cycles throughout Earth’s life. There are enough natural dangers in the galaxy that can destroy us, we don’t need to add to the list.
Better to be appreciating and experiencing this spectacular environment we find ourselves in while concurrently using our intelligence to sidestep the next natural extinction cycle that is by definition, coming.
earthKind is about all her creatures and how we are and are not being earth kind.
